Madrid Maine, Spain
Acoustic Blues / Blues
Hello, my name is Mary, I live in Spain and I am a singer-songwriter and performer of Jazz, Blues and Soul, I have a master's degree in popular singing and I have been working with music for 10 years.
I like the blues because in the use of the guitar the blues singers developed a particular technique almost self-taught. Thus was born fingerpicking, a technique used to play both rhythm and melody, flatpicking, in which the musician plays the melody note by note with a pick, and the amazing bottleneck or slide technique, which consists of the guitarist passing a finger of his left hand (if he is right-handed), through a serrated bottleneck, sliding it along the strings. The result is an effect reminiscent of the sound of the Hawaiian guitar.
The blues is a state of mind, it's a therapy where you bring out your ghosts and defeat them: "The blues means courage to face life; it's waking up, opening your eyes, seeing reality before you; it's complaining as exposure, but as a whole it's more like agitation; it's movement and the ability to act.
