“Music gives me the sense of well being and a positive energy toward life. From hard music to soft, it's all about feeling and I truly love it.” From that foundation of utter passion springboards Alex Cole's remarkable songwriting. His emotive acoustic flavors capture your heart in a grip that is firm but tender. Highly emotional and rooted in poignant melodies, Cole's textured, colorful pop is inviting and absorbing.
For Cole, music is catharsis. “Whenever my life isn't going right and I feel depressed, I write,” he says. In his own search for catharsis he brings it to listeners as well. The fan is able to become awash in the thoughtful songwriting of Alex Cole and find his own escape. Cole's ability to intelligently explore the human heart makes for a connection of understanding between artist and listener, a relationship that is mutually beneficial. Cole is busy furthering his career in a variety of ways. He is busy playing acoustic gigs at various venues, carrying his sound live and in person to listeners and building up his fan base. A full band is under construction; this will enable him to expand his musical outreach even further. Writing is ongoing; it's one of Cole's favorite things. “I'm always writing, I love it,” he says. “Even if everything is going right and I can't think of any lyrics, I'm always working on a melody ... I also love to record. I'm currently working on some new songs for the next album.” He goes on to add, “My favorite place to write music is on the back porch of my family's summer camp in upstate New York [as seen in the video for the titular track of his new album, “Letting Go”]. Everything is so much more peaceful there and I can really open up my mind.” He has already unleashed two previous albums and the third further cements his place in the music scene. Cole's new album opens with the touching “Thank You,” a striking composition that sets the stage for the unfolding of the rest of the album's equally momentous tracks. Other songs include the title track, a painfully beautiful follow-up to his “Girl from the World of Beauty” (2004). Other incredible tunes include “Back Above,” “The Helpless Me” and “It's Time.” Melbourne, Florida, was the setting for the recording of “Letting Go,” a process in which he was assisted by his father and musical partner Aaron Cole. Together at Shady Lane Studios and its Boss BR 1600 recorder, they crafted a CD as polished and professional as anything on the music stores' shelves. “The album was inspired by the most treasured moments of my life,” says Cole. He is currently working with A&R Select, the leading A&R firm in Hollywood, CA. “Cole's music is both light and floating and weighty and thoughtful.” |
